Mission

The Elmore County Black History/Heritage Museum was established in 1986 and is presently operated by the Elmore County Black History Committee. The mission of the committee is to use the museum to stimulate interest in African American familyli9fe and history in Elmore County. In addition museum will be used to promote a better understanding of black history in Elmore County and raise the consciousness of the public in appreciation and research in family history of people whose heritage generally been unrecognized.

The building that houses the museum is remaining structure of the former Elmore County Training School.
